An anthro lupine gryphon, a royal guard to the Empress herself. The "bird" part of this character is a mix between a red shouldered-hawk, a red-tailed hawk, and a ferruginous hawk. The mammal part is a regular gray wolf, which shows up in the ears, eyes, and "pads" on the hands. The lower half of the body would be wolf as well.

Guard by *Goldenwolf is so majestic, I just can't take my eyes off of it. See for yourself! (Featured by `cooley)
Wow, that's spectacular! Amazing detail in the background as well as the character! The feathers, jewelry, weaponry, background... Everything looks great and wonderfully executed. Awesome job on this one, my friend.
Hooolllyyy shiiite.... Nice mix of bird and wolf and the detail and color work just blows me away. Absolutely breathtaking. This one is a favorite for sure.

Y'know, I think animals are better than humans, they don't try to change you, or make you fit in, they just enjoy your company, and all they ask in return is just a little kindess. ~Calvin.
Nice stuff, Goldenwolf. I feel particularly drawn in the picture to the things that seem a bit periphery, like the crest in/above the window and the staff. You've layered detail upon detail into this picture, and the only place I see that seems not to have the care-staking craft etched into it is the view through the window, which has a perfect logical reason for not being as detailed (focus).

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant.
